How it all works

Volunteers

All OPEN THE BOOK storytellers are volunteers who give their time freely - and there are no limits on age, gender or size! Each storyteller devotes about one hour a week during term time. This includes the 10-15 minutes for the assembly as well as time for prayer, preparation and planning.

The books used are: The Lion Storyteller Bible by Bob Hartman and the OPEN THE BOOK Handbooks and Storybooks. Click here to see a sample spread of a handbook. For copyright reasons OPEN THE BOOK expects each team member to have their own copy of The Lion Storyteller Bible and the relevant OPEN THE BOOK Handbook and Storybook.

Please note that all volunteers must be CRB registered through their churches and must abide by the OPEN THE BOOK Code of Practice. Please read carefully our Safeguarding Policy. Team leaders will be required to sign on behalf of their team to agree to abide by the Code of Practice on the Registration Form.
