Handbooks
The OPEN THE BOOK Handbooks are the central components of the 3-year rolling programme. Every volunteer will need to purchase - or be provided with - their own copy of the relevant Handbook.
In them you will find a great deal of general guidance about how to prepare and present the stories, hints and tips for storytellers, (plus page spreads for each assembly session, one by one). Don't overlook the first few pages - there's lots of helpful information there.
The left-hand page provides the script for each week's assembly with basic directions. It is important for the integrity of OPEN THE BOOK that this is adhered to. (Please see Our Code of Practice.)
The right-hand page tells you what characters might be needed for the stories, what props might be helpful, ideas for presentation and information about the Resources section on the website. These are only suggestions. Feel free to indulge your own creativity, or sometimes, simply tell the story.
